THE MAC-PRO IS A SIMPLE YET ROBUST ROPE PROTECTION DEVICE USED IN THE ROPE ACCESS INDUSTRY

Mac-pro has been developed, tested and made in Australia. Using a heavy duty nylon compound for protection against sharp edges, rope wear and high surface temperatures.

The mac-pro provides a smooth edge for a rope path, providing edge protection whilst threaded through the aperture of typical steel grid-mesh.

mac-pros can be used a range of
applications including -

  • INDUSTRIAL ROPE ACCESS
  • COMMERCIAL ROPE ACCESS
  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE
  • TELECOMMUNICATIONS RIGGING
  • OFFSHORE OIL AND GAS PLATFORMS
  • RESOURCES SECTOR
  • REFINERIES
  • POWER STATIONS

THE MAC-PRO PROVIDES A SMOOTH EDGE FOR A ROPE PATH, PROVIDING EDGE PROTECTION WHILST THREADED THROUGH THE APERTURE OF TYPICAL STEEL GRID-MESH

THE SIMPLE, ROBUST ROPE PROTECTION DEVICE YOU CAN TRUST

THE MAC-PRO FITS MOST INDUSTRIAL STEEL GRID MESH

They can fit one or two 11mm or 13mm industrial static kernmantle ropes, making feeding ropes through grid mesh and retrieving them a quick and simple exercise.

The protector can be secured to the grid mesh with the supplied cord to prevent it becoming a dropped object.

Maximum service
temperature of 170˚C

Extremely high protection against UV degradation

High density nylon to prevent material crushing

High wear resistance facilitating lowering off personnel in emergency scenarios

1) Please note the mac-pro is not a friction modifier device and should not be used in extreme friction scenarios. 2) While the mac-pro is structurally sound enough to handle a 90 degree deviation, the grid mesh you are using might not be, ropes should be vertical before passing through the mac-pro when possible. 3) mac-pros are designed and tested for use with static kernmantle ropes only. The use of flexible steel wire ropes in conjunction with the mac-pro is not recommended and should not be undertaken.

HISTORY OF THE MAC-PRO

Through working in the Industrial Rope Access Industry, Mac has identified ‘room for improvement’ for the process of setting rope access systems through and working ‘under grid-mesh’ scenarios.

The design was brought forward and discussed with a large and experienced working crew of Rope Access technicians and optimised for ease of use, with safety a paramount factor in its design.

While there are already some Rope protection systems already available, either heavy-duty protection sleeves or adjustable metal devices, the mac-pro provides a safe, simplistic yet durable and professional solution.

ABOUT THE INNOVATOR

Mac Northeast is a coded welder, rigger, rope access technician working in the Oil and Gas Rope Access Industry.  Previously Mac has spent years working as a Saturation Diver in the international offshore Oil and Gas industry.

The Rope Access and Commercial Diving industries are a breeding ground for innovation and the mac-pro is a perfect example of such simplistic solution to an old problem.

Over the past 11 years while working all over the world in the oil and gas industry I have stuffed many different materials through grid mesh to try and protect my working ropes such as old hose, which is far from professional or bomb proof.

Now we use the mac-pro and
not only is it perfect for running ropes or a haul line through, I imagine it could be used for other cables or hoses that need protection running through grid mesh.

I recently started using the
mac-pro on one of the largest construction projects currently being undertaken in the world. It suits it's purpose perfectly, allows me to easily adjust my ropes and move them without hassle. I can honestly say this mac-pro is the most convenient rope protection I have used whilst still maintaining the high level of protection my industry demands.

The mac-pro is a professional yet simple and effective solution to rigging through gridmesh.

Small, light, convenient, practical.
It's a really good piece of gear and I recommend every rope tech in heavy industry and rope access has one in their kit.

We have been putting the
mac-pros to the test on site for about 3 months now and they have taken the abuse like a boss. The make the setup, just a lot nicer, it looks clean and tidy, the ropes run through smoothly and just adds that professional touch to the job.

These mac-pros are awesome
and so convenient. No more backyard fixes for protecting rope thru grid mesh.
